Details make the difference. By examining all the individual processes in the production of drop stitch, commonly used by all companies, we developed a refined and sophisticated version in the production process of inflatable boards.
To start, we have removed the process of coating the board’s inner core with molten PVC – for us, this process was simply unnecessary, as we are not interested in making a single-layer board that serves only as a base for gluing the outer/double layer. It was also a messy process with insufficient quality control.
Instead, we coat the inner core with a specially formulated paste to create a waterproof seal and a bonding base. Then, a high-density processed PVC layer is applied to this bonding base by machines under controlled conditions – completely eliminating the human factor involved in the traditional double-layer application process.
This process is done in the initial production stage by carefully calibrated machines developed for this purpose. The result is a uniform finish that has all the strength of the traditional double layer. And because this process is done at the initial stages of production, we are able to produce something extremely rigid as the material is applied with the board inflated.
It may seem simple but, as in the best single malt whiskey or an improved engine, the materials and processes need to be refined over and over again until the ultimate combination of quality and performance is created.

What are the obvious benefits?
Aesthetic finish – All new inflatable SUP boards from Red Paddle, first released in 2016, now feature an aesthetic finish that is the top of the industry. There are no wrinkles, blemishes, or other imperfections. The inflatable SUP boards look cleaner and smoother and are also softer to the touch.
Lighter weight – All Red Paddle inflatable SUP boards are up to 2 kg lighter than their previous models. But the most important thing is that these SUP boards are not excessively light. If a board is extremely light, it is more affected by the wind and the rushing water current when it is in it. The high-tech fusion MSL boards provide a reassuring sense of lightness.
More rigid at lower pressures – Due to the effect of torsional stiffness technology, all Red Paddle boards first released in 2016 are more rigid at lower air pressures. We recommend inflating the boards with a pressure between 16 to 22 psi. Less pumping, more paddling!
Fusion technology MSL and airtight coating - Fusion technology has been applied to the core of the drop stitch fibers, at the stage when it is still raw material, preventing potential errors that can be made by human hands.
